It is the only power transmission project on the list of prioritized projects of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor signed during President Xi Jinping's visit to Pakistan in May 2015. It is a key project of the Belt and Road Initiative and also the first  HVDC power transmission line in Pakistan.

Location: Punjab and Sindh in Pakistan

Project Scope: Contruction of a new 886km DC transmission line and ±660 kV converter stations at both ends

Transmission Capacity: 4 million kilowatts
